Immune-Mediated Diseases in Dogs & Cats

Immune-mediated diseases are common in dogs and also seen fairly frequently in cats. The most common diseases we see are:
  • Immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia (destruction of red blood cells)
  • Immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (destruction of platelets)
  • Immune-mediated polyarthritis (joint inflammation)
  • Immune-mediated meningitis

These diseases are complex but our understanding is improving all the time and new drugs are becoming available to help in the treatment.
